Lots of Support in the Industry
Nigel Lawrence, Director of Client Partnerships at Applied Driving, expresses strong support for Women in Transport's initiatives to cultivate diversity and inclusivity within the sector, recognising these efforts as essential for fostering growth, innovation, and safety. Lawrence sees the Advance mentoring program as a valuable initiative that empowers women in their career development, and Applied Driving is proud to sponsor and contribute to this program.
2018 was the Initial Pilot
The Advance mentoring program, tailored to meet the specific needs of transport professionals, was introduced as a pilot in 2018. Already having supported over 300 mentees and mentors, with an additional 45 spots available for 2024, the program is conducted virtually and encompasses training sessions, one-on-one mentoring, and engagement sessions. Sonya Byers, CEO of Women in Transport, acknowledges the crucial role played by corporate sponsors in making the Advance mentoring program possible and welcomes Applied Driving as the latest partner.
The Power of Mentoring Should Not Be Overlooked
Sonya Byers emphasises the power of mentoring as a tool for personal development and empowerment, providing mentees with a safe environment to explore new ideas and take charge of their career trajectories. She expresses delight in the partnership with Applied Driving and the support they bring. In response, Lawrence anticipates a positive impact from the collaboration, noting that offering access to the Companion+ Mobile Safety app will facilitate engagement with transport professionals, promoting the significance of driver safety and fleet risk reduction. Applied Driving aims to share its expertise and contribute to a cultural shift within the transport sector. The partnership is already planning joint initiatives for the coming year.
